If you’re looking for a fancy site with all the bells and whistles, I’m sorry , you won’t find it here. In fact, that’s the exact reason this site exists, I’m too busy (lazy) to write recipes down on paper and because I have a poor memory I’ve relied on google when I wanted to cook and I just bookmarked those that I liked. The trouble with that is, the recipes that I kept going back to are hosted by commercial sites and their sole aim is to make money, no surprise there I guess and I don’t blame them but they do it by plastering the site with too many adverts and when that’s coupled with popups telling me to watch this video or subscribe to that site, it’s just too much for me.
Another thing you won’t find here that you will on other sites is a back story to every darn recipe, I don’t have a ‘Nonna’ that was born in Tuscany that gave me her special recipe for Marinara sauce and nor have I eaten in any of the best restaurants in the world. I just know what I like to cook and what my family like to eat.
While I mention family, there are several recipes here from my family members. Could be from my Mum, a brilliant family cook that kept three kids and and my Dad well fed for many years and still loves to cook and bake. Or, perhaps one of my sisters, both state side now but both love food (and wine!) lovers. The head Chef of the family and a great resource for advice is my father in law, he’s qualified don’t you know!
For some reason my good wife has been taking pictures of the food I’ve cooked for quite some time, it never made sense to me but it does now mean I can put some pictures with the recipes.
Many of the recipes will have come from the web, perhaps modified by me to suit as I have one child that’ll only eat chicken if she could and one that avoids anything green, if I remember I’ll give credit and link to the site.
Back to why this site exists…. it’s for me (and my family) in the most part, just an online personal recipe book so I don’t have to deal with popups and ads from other sites…because of this I make no money from it but that’s okay. If you’ve found yourself here, welcome, I’m glad you did.
